During our six-week Track and Field unit we record the times and scores of all students.  We use this information to compile a leaderboard from which we select the team.  All students in all grade levels will compete against students from their own grade level and different classes.  We select four teams for the GUSD Track Meet: 6th/7th Grade Boys, 6th/7th Grade Girls, 8th Grade Boys, 8th Grade Girls.

2. 100m sprint
3. 200m run
4. 400m run
5. Mile
6. Shot put
7. 70m Hurdles
8. High Jump
9. Relays

The track meet is usually at the end of February or early March, every year.  This is the only athletic team that competes against Rosemont, Roosevelt, and Wilson at the SAME time.  The Track meet is the largest middle school athletic contest in the district.  Students will be asked to sign a permission slip to travel to the meet.  They will be given a t-shirt to wear to the meet that must be returned.
